Joining PenFed is more than being an employee; it's about being a part of the PenFed family.

PenFed is hiring a Sr. UX Product Strategist to work onsite at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the design of intuitive, scalable, and brand-aligned digital experiences across PenFed's consumer banking platforms. The incumbent will ideally be a strategic designer who combines strong systems thinking with the ability to deliver production-ready Figma designs. This role plays a critical part in defining how millions of members interact with digital services such as onboarding, payments, card management, and more. This role benefits from experience in regulated digital environments such as banking or fintech, fluency in usability heuristics and accessibility standards, and the ability to work across product, engineering, and compliance teams to deliver member-centered solutions that scale.

Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and the position will perform other duties as assigned.

* Define UX strategies that translate member behaviors and business objectives into clear design direction.

* Design end-to-end experiences for high-value digital workflows including onboarding, funds transfer, and account servicing.

* Deliver complete Figma artifacts-flows, wireframes, prototypes, and visual comps-for handoff and review.

* Apply accessibility (WCAG) and usability standards throughout the design lifecycle to ensure inclusive experiences.

* Conduct or synthesize member research and behavior analysis to inform decision-making.

* Identify and address usability risks early in the design process using heuristic evaluation and feedback loops.

* Contribute to and extend PenFed's enterprise design system, including component usage and documentation.

* Align closely with engineers to validate feasibility, ensure implementation fidelity, and support agile delivery.

* Present design rationale and trade-offs clearly to product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

* Support continuous experience improvement through iterative design informed by testing, analytics, and feedback.

Qualifications:

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

* 6+ years of experience in UX, product design, or experience strategy in digital banking, fintech, or other regulated industries.
* Strong portfolio showing end-to-end design leadership, problem framing, and measurable member or business impact.
* Proficiency in Figma with the ability to independently produce complete design packages ready for implementation.
* Deep knowledge of human-centered design, usability heuristics, and interaction patterns.
* Demonstrated experience designing for accessibility with adherence to WCAG 2.x standards.
* Familiarity with complex digital journeys in consumer financial services such as account opening, money movement, or card servicing.
* Experience working with or contributing to enterprise design systems in scalable product environments.
* Understanding of frontend technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, component frameworks) and service-oriented architectures.
* Exposure to Salesforce Financial Services Cloud or composable Salesforce-based platforms preferred.
* Strong communication skills with a proven ability to align diverse stakeholders and explain design decisions clearly.
* Comfort working in agile and scaled agile product environments with cross-functional teams.
* Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or a related field (advanced degree is a plus).
