Overview:
The Senior Distribution Manager, EDC is a critical position in the Global Fulfilment & Distribution organization leading the distribution of all Waters Division, Clinical and TA products to customers and service organization in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). In addition, this is one of the key leadership positions on a global team with an opportunity to make an impact at the enterprise level and influence Waters' strategies by designing and optimizing a global distribution network to support future business growth.
The role is responsible for the management of imports & exports of products, Returns, HSE and Quality at the EDC. The position requires high interaction & collaboration with stakeholders across levels in multiple functions of the company - Global Planning, Global Procurement, Trade Compliance, Data & Systems, EMEA
Commercial, EMEA Finance, EMEA Service, EMEA Clinical, Manufacturing sites and other Tier-1 DCs and is responsible for approx. 20% of Waters revenue.
This position requires a highly experienced leader with demonstrated subject matter expertise who can act as the go-to individual in the field of distribution & fulfilment. The position requires a combination of technical skills, supply chain knowledge, and emotional intelligence to lead change management initiatives and achieve
consensus amongst cross functional stakeholders.
This job is site-based, working from the EDC center in the Netherlands five days a week.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the EDC Team to execute the core activity of Order fulfilment - providing the external and internal customers with the ordered products, on time, complete, and using the most efficient and effective processes and distribution methods.
* Manage a team of 20 spanning the functions of Warehouse Operations, Trade Operations (Import/Export), Inbound/outbound coordination, Distribution Planning, Inventory Control & Logistics Engineering.
* Lead day-to-day warehouse operations in a new modern facility of 7100sqm, managing inbound and outbound flows from the DC.
* Build and own strong relationships with logistic vendors (transportation, IE, brokers etc.), manage their performance according to established KPIs and drive improvements.
* Develop and implement multi-year logistics strategy for the organization to meet EMEA business growth needs.
* Further expand and modernize Waters global distribution and logistics capabilities in EMEA in conjunction with other global operations & WD functions.
* Own Trade operations and ensure compliance to European trade regulations - responsible for adherence to requirements like CBAM, F-gas etc and to mitigate compliance risks.
* Implement and operate centralized product Returns center for EMEA
* Create annual operating plans and ensure warehousing & logistics costs are in line with those plans.
* Liaise with finance to analyze cost variance, prepare forecast and define action plans on monthly basis.
* Key member of global freight RFQ team and all Waters freight improvements.
* Work seamlessly with Global Planning, EMEA WD, Clinical and TA teams to address stock shortage risk and allocation, ensuring the replenishment plan is aligned with sales target.
* Actively manage inventory working with Global Planning; responsible for optimizing inventory levels, E&O and warehouse space.
* Maintain and uphold standards for quality and IVD products
* Ensure the safety, health and well-being of all employees at EDC - responsible for HSE at the site
* Actively engage in advancement & adoption of SAP to enhance distribution services. Leverage tools and technology to improve productivity.
* Identify and lead Continuous Improvement projects using Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and optimize costs in logistics and distribution operations.
* Maintain and develop the work force of EDC in line with the services required and using the processes and practices of Waters corporation.
* Lead and/or actively participate in global programs; oversee implementation of transformational strategies in multiple regions.
* Track and communicate impact of external developments in Europe, events and trends in the transportation area.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics or business
* Minimum of 12-15 years' experience in supply chain, distribution, logistics
* Experience in a managerial role with a logistics service provider or the logistics organization of a manufacturing company
* People leader who leads by example and can implement processes & drive performance
* Experience of running a business from start to end within a larger international organization, covering day to day performance as well as projects Self-starter, responsible, reliable, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
* Ability to handle data, perform analyses for decisions and generate insightful reports and presentations
* Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written plus an ability to interact with a wide range of people - across functions and countries; with internal and external parties
* Experience with financial processes: budgeting, reporting, analysis of results
* Experience with an ERP system and planning concepts
* Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, tasks & day-to-day operations
* Flexible in thinking, can connect business requirements with operational possibilities
