About this opportunity
The Senior Maintenance Automation Engineer will be a member of the Maintenance Engineering Department. Through focus in Controls and Automation Engineering, support on going production activities, participate in the improvement of existing processes and development of new technologies. Big portion of daily business of Senior Maintenance Automation Engineer will be leading or participation in improvement projects.
This role will work closely with Maintenance management, Maintenance Supervisors, Automations Engineers, Maintenance Engineers and Operations teams to plan, coordinate and schedule improvements implementations during available production windows. This will help prevent unplanned downtime of material handling equipment and disruption to production activities. He will be also responsible for supporting Maintenance Engineers and Technicians Supervisors in daily operational business.
In this role, you will
* Document, define, measure and improve existing manufacturing processes using Industry accepted Automation and Controls Engineering Techniques (PLCs, data base management, etc.)
* Ensure that the use and application of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools are optimal in terms of quality and productivity.
* Research, define, develop, and implement new state of the art manufacturing processes, methods, and technologies,
* Integrate and automate existing manufacturing systems and processes.
* Implement and champion continuous process improvement methodologies and techniques.
* Understand process capability metrics and work with process engineers to improve the performance of the operation overall, from an Equipment/Controls/Automation perspective.
* Mechanical/electrical equipment and software installation, qualification, validation, maintenance, and trouble shooting.
* Improve equipment capacity, uptime efficiency, and reliability.
* Develop and conduct process and equipment training courses, and produce associated course material.
* Analyze, specify, and implement cost effective equipment that improves operational performance and output.
* Cost performance, equipment cost justification, breakeven points analysis.
* Manufacturing process database management when needed (troubleshooting).
* Technical knowledge from more than one production area,
* Availability to easily to change of working areas
* Lead training for other Automation Engineers
* Support of Technician Supervisor on training of other Technicians.
* Availability to work independent.
* Support Maintenance Enginners on Root Cause Analysis, Failure Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
* Cooperation with Maintenance Technicians team
Additional responsibilities:
* Ensures the effective fulfillment of objectives and deadlines assigned to the group.
* Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Management team.
* Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
In this role, you'll need
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology or any applicable Engineering discipline.
* Must posses the ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written form with emphasis on requirements and specifications. In addition, must have the ability to report project status accurately and in timely fashion to Manager / Director level management.
* Min 6 years relevant experience in Controls / Automation Engineering in Maintenance team, or related field, is required.
* Proficient English
* Experience in working with the production is essential.
* Resistance to work under stress and the ability to make strategic decisions from the point of view of production continuity are required.
* Practical knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, pneumatics and the basics of mechanics is also necessary.
* To successfully perform this job, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
* Experience in PLC troubleshooting, program modification and creation (Allen Bradley will be an asset).
* Experience in Robots troubleshooting, program modification and creation (FANUC will be an asset)
* Experience in working with Vision systems (COGNEX, KEYENCE)
