				Overview:

Monitors incoming awards and modifications and workload for Sponsored Projects Officer Awards team to manage all active sponsored projects.

Responsibilities:

In coordination with Sponsored Projects Manager, the Lead Sponsored Projects Award Officer will perform the following:

* Monitors incoming awards and modifications and workload for Sponsored Projects Officer Awards team to manage all active sponsored projects. Provides team metrics and workload distribution. Performs job performance evaluations of assigned staff and problem solving.
* Monitors, reviews and evaluates award processes of the team; assists management with assessing need, planning for improvement and facilitating implementation.
* Maintain a current understanding of funding sponsors, their guidelines, and their priorities and informs award team of sponsor and system updates.
* Assist SPOs and Sr. SPOs with troubleshooting of complex issues related to award management, sponsor prior approvals, project budget and other award components and transactions.
* Perform quality control for award setup, analyze results and implement new policies and procedures to ensure SPO review process strengthen the quality of awards in the financial system. Produces award set-up metrics and reports for leadership.
* Maintains a high level of professional knowledge through self-study, research, participation in professional development, and attendance at webinars and conferences. 
* Disseminates information on changes with NIH and other sponsors guidelines, forms, requirements, regulations, etc., and provides formal and informal training for faculty and staff. Develop, monitor and review training and onboarding plan.
* Provide continuing education for staff. When needed, provides coverage for vacancies and leaves of absence, including all primary SPO responsibilities.

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Eight (8) or more years job related experience required. 
* Prefer experience in Research Administration, accounting, or equivalent.
