PRN - Weekend Position
Ideal Candidate will have experience with bedside care, Video Swallow evaluations, and the stroke population
*Candidate must have completed clinical fellowship year and have obtained certificate of clinical competence.
Our inpatient multidisciplinary team at Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford evaluates and treats a comprehensive range of acute care diagnoses and patient populations (primarily adult) for an 11 county region in the north central and northwest regions of Illinois. We are a 254 bed hospital located in the near east side of Rockford. Rockford is often referred to as "Big Town, Little City" and we have a great community atmosphere both in our city and within our OSF family. Our team consists of 10 PT's, 2 PTA's, 5 OT's, 2 SLP's and 6 Rehab Techs. We serve many patients under the banner of our Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center and our Disease Specific designation as a Total Joint Center of Excellence. We have an evidence-based and team approach to the care we provide and work collaboratively with each other and our specialty teams within the hospital.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech Therapist assists patients in the restoration or development of swallowing, speech and communication functions through evaluation and treatment.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
* Masters
Licenses/Certifications:
* Respective state temporary license with the supervision of a Licensed Speech Pathologist for 18 months
* Respective state temporary license while completing Clinical Fellowship Year or respective state license and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
Other skills/knowledge:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Previous experience as Speech Pathologist
* Valid state driver's license, as verified through the respective state Department of Motor vehicles driving record abstract.
* Analytical ability to administer and evaluate standardized speech/language tests, conduct swallowing evaluations, evaluate patients' capabilities, develop treatment plans and monitor patients' progress.
