				Overview:

Responsibilities:

The speech-language pathologist assistant (SLPA) delivers quality therapy services to patients by implementing in accordance with the established treatment plan and goals to maximize functional outcomes.  The SLPA provides care at the direction of the supervising Speech Language Pathologist and actively participates in discharge planning.  The SLPA is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice following the guidelines of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Speech-Language Pathology.   Services are delivered within the framework of an interdisciplinary team approach, including the patient and significant others. These services are delivered in compliance with CommonSpirit Health's mission, ethical standards, and policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bassociate's Degree from a Speech Language Pathology Assistant Program OR Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or other related field.
* Licensed by the State of Texas; Assistant in Speech-Language Pathology/Intern in Speech-Language Pathology; eligibility to begin clinical fellowship period 
* BLS CPR certified, American Heart Association

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Effective Communication
* Knowledge of the principles and skills of the clinical process to provide patient care and treatment.
* Basic Computer skills
