Novant Health is seeking a Sonographer I who will play an essential role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging. This position supports physicians by preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and producing accurate diagnostic images that guide clinical decisions.
What You'll Do
* Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and ensure comfort, safety, and clear communication throughout the exam.
* Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound scans using established protocols while optimizing technical factors for accuracy and patient safety.
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
* Modify care appropriately based on patient age, condition, and abilities.
* Receive, interpret, document, and verify electronic, written, and verbal orders.
* Evaluate images for quality, proper labeling, and accurate patient identification.
* Ensure timely transfer of images and relevant clinical information to interpreting providers.
* Identify, prepare, and administer contrast media or medications as prescribed; perform venipuncture when required.
* Utilize EMR, RIS, and PACS systems efficiently and accurately.
QualificationsEducation
* Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiography or Sonography Program; or a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography Program - Required
* Associate Degree - Preferred
Experience
* 1 year of sonography experience - Preferred
* Must meet Life Support Training requirements per policy NH-HR-3096.
Licensure / Certification
Varies by location; all routes require certification and registration in Sonography (ARRT RT(S) or ARDMS):
* Medical Center: RT(S) or ARDMS certification required within 6 months of hire
* IDTF / Hospital Outpatient: RT(S) or ARDMS - Required
* Medical Group Office: RT(S) or ARDMS - Required
