We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Snowflake DBA to lead the administration, performance tuning, and governance of our enterprise Snowflake environment. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the availability, security, and scalability of our cloud data platform, while enabling high-performance analytics and data science across business units
Responsibilities:
1. Snowflake Platform Administration
* Manage and monitor Snowflake environments, including warehouse performance, query optimization, and user access.
* Configure and administer virtual warehouses, roles, databases, schemas, and storage.
* Oversee resource usage and cost optimization across the platform.
2. Security, Access Control & Governance
* Implement and maintain role-based access control (RBAC) and data masking/tokenization in accordance with governance and compliance policies.
* Enforce data security standards, including audit logging, object access tracking, and integration with identity providers (e.g., Okta, Azure AD).
* Support data privacy and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX) through appropriate controls.
3. Performance Optimization & Monitoring
* Monitor and fine-tune query performance, storage usage, and compute resource allocation.
* Leverage Snowflake's Query Profile and Resource Monitors to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and anomalies.
* Collaborate with data engineering and BI teams to optimize data pipelines and workloads.
4. Platform Support & Incident Management
* Provide expert-level support for platform incidents, access issues, and job failures.
* Define and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for Snowflake data and objects.
* Maintain environmental health and proactively resolve errors or capacity constraints.
5. Automation, Integration & Upgrades
* Build or enhance automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance (e.g., using Python, dbt, Terraform).
* Integrate Snowflake with BI tools, orchestration tools (e.g., Matillion, Airflow), and data catalogs.
* Stay updated on Snowflake releases and evaluate new features for enterprise readiness.

Required:
* 5+ years of database administration experience, with at least 3 years focused on Snowflake.
* Deep knowledge of SQL, Snowflake architecture, and cloud-based data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
* Experience implementing RBAC, data masking, and governed access models.
* Strong understanding of query tuning, cost management, and warehouse scaling strategies.
* Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Snowflake Usage Views, third-party monitoring, or custom solutions).
Preferred:
* Snowflake certification(s) (e.g., SnowPro Advanced: Architect or Administrator).
* Familiarity with data pipeline tools (Matillion, dbt, Fivetran), orchestration (Airflow), and cataloging (Alation, Collibra).
* Exposure to data engineering, BI, or AI/ML workflows within Snowflake.
* Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform).
