				Overview:

A Shipping & Receiving Clerk will perform a variety of high complexity shipping and receiving tasks; compare identifying information on incoming or outgoing shipments with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents; ensure shipping and receiving processes are consistent and conducted in a timely manner. 

Responsibilities:

* Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determine most economical and efficient shipping method; select appropriate shipping container; pack items to ensure safe delivery. 
* Prepare bills of lading; check items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct. 
* Receive and unload incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers. 
* Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received. 
* Inspect shipments for damages or defects; record discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel. 
* Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items; may trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documents. 
* May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records. 
* May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink wrap machine; may operate company vehicle to deliver shipments; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area; may lock warehouse .
* Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. 
* Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.
* Improve and maintain 5S in your area; make suggestions for improvements.
* Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work area as well as events for other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving.
* Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED
* Minimum one (1) year of related experience in the fundamentals of shipping/receiving

Preferred Education & Experience

* Two (3) years of related experience in the fundamentals of shipping/receiving
* FedEx and UPS shipping processes experience in a manufacturing environment with an ability to quickly change priorities
* Computer skills in a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface; ability to use Enterprise-wide systems 
* This position may require access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
* If required, ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Salary Range: $19.40 - $30.14 annually (San Diego).

Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
