We are looking for a Senior Engineer - VMware & VDI to join our diverse team. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about crafting robust, scalable, and secure virtual infrastructure solutions with a strong emphasis on VMware technologies and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). While Citrix knowledge is a plus, VMware expertise will be at the core of your responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and document technical solutions for enterprise-scale virtual desktop environments, aligned with client architecture standards and ITIL practices.
* Lead the implementation of VMware-based solutions, including VMware/Omnissa Horizon, vSphere, vSAN, and NSX (if applicable), with a focus on high availability, performance, and security.
* Translate business needs into technical designs for infrastructure systems, including virtualization, storage, and networking.
* Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful deployment and integration of VDI platforms.
* Develop solution design documentation and implementation plans.
* Support the automation of provisioning, scaling, and maintenance tasks using PowerShell, Python, or Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
* Guide incident resolution, change and release management, and performance tuning in VMware-based environments.
* Evaluate and improve existing systems and designs for optimisation and modernisation
Qualifications:
Technical Expertise Required
VMware/ Omnissa Focus (Core to Role)
* VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) - design, configuration, and management
* VMware/ Omnissa Horizon - advanced knowledge in deploying and supporting VDI environments
* vSAN, NSX (preferred)
* Experience with disaster recovery and backup tools (e.g., Veeam)
* Performance optimisation using vRealize Operations
Citrix expertise:
* Understanding of Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, StoreFront, Citrix Gateway (NetScaler)
* Familiarity with PVS, MCS, and Citrix Profile Management
Networking & Security
* Proven understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and load balancing (Citrix ADC/NetScaler)
* Network segmentation and access control principles
Automation & Scripting
* Proficiency in PowerShell or Python
* Experience with automation and orchestration using Terraform, Ansible (a strong plus)
Soft Skills
