Overview:
This is a Labor Service Position.
Brief Job Description (essential functions of the position):
Responsible for the installation, erection, and painting of signs, poles, traffic control devices, and appurtenances; paints and marks loading zones and other traffic lane lines on the street, pavement, and curbs; applies plastic stripping.
Responsibilities:
* Operates lane marking machines; excavates and prepares the ground for the erection of signs, meters, and signal posts; straightens poles with appropriate tools.
* Maintains, installs, and removes pedestrian delineators.
* Assists with the placement of VMS boards.
* Operates hand, electric, and hydraulic-powered tools and compressors.
* Maintains record of all completed work performed by the work crew.
* Participates in the fabrication of signs as directed by all sign shop employees in a higher grade, the Sign Shop Supervisor, and/or Director of Operations.
* Performs related duties as required.
May be required to work during an emergency as determined by the Commissioner or designee.
Qualifications:
* Two (2) years experience in work related to the fabrication, installation, erection and painting of signs, plus traffic control devices and appurtenances.
* Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:

* Must have and maintain a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
* Must provide a copy of Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Class D.
* Must provide current Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Record at the time of the interview.
