				Responsibilities:

GFT has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead a broad range of traffic engineering and transportation planning projects for high-profile public-sector clients in the Mid-Atlantic. The job is in GFT's Baltimore (Towson) office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a senior traffic / transportation engineer you will apply technical expertise, lead project teams, coordinate high level client stakeholders and manage relationships with contractors and sub-consultants on a variety of conventional and unconventional projects with our Mid-Atlantic state and municipal clients. Projects may also include other clients (Federal, private, etc.) and other regions nationally as opportunities are available. This is a dynamic environment with short deadlines and a high level of interaction with the client day to day.

Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate progressive experience in transportation engineering, with specialized skills and experience in traffic analysis and design. Additional highlights of the role can be found below.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

* Participate on interdisciplinary teams with technical responsibilities in the areas of traffic operations analysis; field data collection/counting; traffic signal design; signing and striping plan preparation; and construction traffic control planning.
* Prepare project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
* Supervise work prepared by junior professional staff and technicians.
* Participate in client meetings and the presentation of project findings to technical and lay audiences.
* Participate in the preparation of contract and task proposals and negotiations as needed.
* Review and manage project schedules and budgets.
* Provide traffic staff assistance for GFT clients.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm: 

* Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree.
* A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in transportation and/or traffic engineering and design to include maintenance of traffic, signing, markings and signals.
* Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is strongly desired.

What we prefer you bring: 

* Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification is desirable.
* Familiar with MS Office, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD software preferred.
* Experience using HCS, VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic and Sidra analysis software preferred.
* Experience with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is considered a plus.
* Strong public speaking skills with good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously both independently and also as an integral part of a design team. 

This is mostly an indoor position, but some outdoor work is also required.  Some travel and some overtime required.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
