Responsibilities:
The Senior Systems/Network Administrator role is to support the stable operation of the University/Colleges Systems and Network. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all backend IT systems and communication links while ensuring minimal downtime. The Sr. Systems/Network Administrator will troubleshoot systems and network performance issues, direction for capacity planning solutions.

* Managing, maintaining and upgrading Windows servers, Network systems and related hardware and software components as required.
* Managing, maintaining and administering server systems and environments including backup/recovery, anti-virus and patch management.
* Creating and maintaining documentation of all systems and application configurations and modifications.
* Testing and configuring related software and hardware to determine applicability and suitability to site's current and future systems requirements, needs and directions.
* Performing servers and systems troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose and resolve common and involved problems.
* Managing and maintaining physical and electronic infrastructure of systems and data on the network.
* Maintaining network resources, including configuration of network switches, server hardware, PBX/VoIP systems, operating systems, applications and services in a wired and wireless environment.
* Maintaining and improving network operations and provide support to network users.
* Configuring and maintaining network components (e.g., routers, switches, etc.) and services (i.e., connectivity and access.)
* Performing custom configuration for complex network devices such as firewalls and VPN concentrators. Reconfiguring network equipment as necessary to handle environmental changes.
* Performing network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose complex network problems with minor supervision, implementing solutions that have limited system-wide impact.
* Escalating issues with broader implications for entire network to higher level network personnel Technical Services Manager or Technical Service Director.
* Maintaining physical and virtual server infrastructure; applies updates and hotfixes.
* Applying Windows updates to client desktops.
* Managing or participating in technology projects.
* Administering moves, adds and changes.
* Providing general technical support.
* Helping select and implementing systems.
* Monitoring and maintaining servers.
What you will bring
* Knowledge of information technology infrastructure.
* Experience with various Networking technologies (routers, switches.)
* Higher Education background and knowledge with 2+ years of related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience and knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IOS networking devices.
* Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory Doman Services, and Server roles such as DNS and DHCP.
* Has broad-based, knowledge and hands-on experience implementing network switches.
* Practical experience with Cisco phone systems, and VOIP system administration.
* Excellent time-management, planning and interpersonal skills.
* Must have the ability to work effectively with end-users, gain their confidence, understand their technical and operational needs and translate them into viable technical solutions.
* Broad array of system and server knowledge including MS Windows.
* Experience administering Microsoft systems and servers.
* Knowledge and experience with managing an Microsoft O365 environment.
* Experience with Microsoft Azure Active Directory.
* Experience working in a policy and procedure driven IT environment.
* Ability to work and participate in a team environment.
* Outstanding work, task and time management aptitudes.
* Excellent information gathering, research and reporting skills.
* Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
