				Overview:

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (MFD Specialist Lead) to support critical enterprise printing, imaging, and infrastructure activities across the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This senior role drives enterprise-wide Multi-Functional Device (MFD) operations, manages complex server administration tasks, and provides technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team. This position will be located in Alexandria, VA, and will be a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:

As the MFD Specialist Lead, you will lead the MFD lifecycle across the enterprise, direct engineering activities, and act as a people leader. Core responsibilities include:

* Provide direction, technical leadership, and daily guidance to junior and mid-level engineering team members.
* Lead system and software engineering activities including requirements derivation, requirements analysis, system architecture, hardware configuration, and integration/test planning aligned with the Infrastructure Design and Integration Management Plan (IDIMP).
* Develop and maintain technical content, engineering artifacts, and documentation for the PrinterLogic Infrastructure.
* Manage and maintain configuration and operational readiness of enterprise infrastructure systems, servers, and virtualized environments to ensure uptime, performance, resource optimization, and compliance.
* Ensure infrastructure systems meet USCG and federal requirements for cybersecurity, security controls, data protection, auditing, monitoring, and system hardening.
* Apply advanced knowledge of infrastructure technologies including DNS, VDI, SAN, VLAN, firewalls, Azure, AWS, virtualization platforms, and related enterprise tools.
* Automate system and application configurations using scripting and modern automation frameworks to increase reliability and repeatability.
* Support integration of infrastructure components into approved Technical Design Lists (TDLs) and ensure alignment with mission partner technical standards.
* Conduct metrics analysis, performance assessments, and engineering reviews to support modernization, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement efforts.
* Lead infrastructure test environment design, configuration, and sustainment to support system validation, troubleshooting, and engineering evaluations.
* Provide senior engineering guidance, technical recommendations, and briefings to leadership, stakeholders, and mission partners across USCG programs.
* Assist in working Incidents and Service Requests related to MFD and printers within Service Level Objectives.
* Create new engineering and configuration deployment guides as new model printers are delivered to units from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
* Maintain the Authorized Hardware List (AHL) as new printers and scanners are delivered to Coast Guard Units.
* Assist in DLA inventory validation and correction for unit names and Points of Contact for the quarterly DLA inventory.
* Ensure that the Unit Resource Manager (URM) database maintenance is up-to-date and exported for CG-C5I and CG-8.
* Add FAQ entries and update existing engineering knowledge base entries as technical environment information changes.
* Assist in providing DHS the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) levels of all purchased and leased printers and scanners in the Coast Guard.
* Assist in updating the quarterly lease report for DHS Headquarters (HQS).
* Monitor the MFD Shared Mailbox to resolve technical escalations and field inquiries.

Qualifications:

High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience 

* Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
* Five to seven years of experience acting as a people manager and driving technical project management.
* Direct engineering experience administering, managing, and scaling a PrinterLogic Server environment.
* Demonstrated experience executing engineering activities for enterprise infrastructure systems in hybrid, on-premises, or cloud environments.
* Proven ability to perform complex requirements analysis, system integration, hardware/software configuration, and engineering documentation development.
* Strong experience administering and securing enterprise systems in accordance with USCG, DoD, DHS, and federal cybersecurity policies.
* Proficiency with infrastructure-level tools and technologies such as DNS, VDI, SAN, VLAN, firewalls, Azure, AWS, and virtualization platforms.
* Experience designing and automating system configurations and developing engineering workflows to improve scalability and operational readiness.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to lead engineering discussions and present to senior leadership.
* Ability to support complex modernization initiatives in mission-critical, fast-paced operational environments.

Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Skills and Experience 

* Prior experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) or Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
* Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure modernization, IT governance, and hybrid-cloud integration.
* Experience supporting automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), or low-code governance models.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement engineering mindset.
