Responsibilities:

This role is Remote.

A Senior Staff Accountant provides financial support to various property operating departments including the property finance department in reporting accurate financial information, financial analysis, and special projects as assigned. This position will assist in the accurate and timely preparation of property financial statements in a centralized environment. Provide supervision, training, and guidance as needed to staff accountants. Maintain accounting records in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policy. This position is remote.

- Analyzes, reviews, and posts standard recurring journal entries that are prepared by a staff accountant. Communicates, coaches and recommend changes as needed for entries that are not prepared correctly.

- Reviews and approves account reconciliations that are prepared by staff accountants. Analyzes the accounts, makes decisions on resolutions for reconciling items and recommends appropriate resolution for reconciling items when needed.

- Provides training and supervision to staff accountants that include giving input on team member reviews.

- Prepares complete accurate and timely financial statements and reports for management staff, Auditors, regulatory agencies and financial institutions.

- Assists managers in interpreting departmental financial statements; ensures adequate and accurate information is provided to promote an understanding of the financial statements.

- Assists internal, contracted and regulatory Auditors in their examination of accounting records to ensure that Auditors receive adequate information for effective inspections for assigned locations.

- Identifies inconsistencies in accounting treatment or procedures across properties and recommends and implements changes to ensure cross property analysis can be completed correctly.

- Communicates and coordinates with property accounting departments to ensure intercompany accounts are balanced and reconciled.

- Preparation, review and submission of tax filings.

- General accounting duties and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and related statutory requirements required.

- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience as a staff accountant in a casino finance department preferred.

- Strong supervisory skills including training, reviewing, and problem resolution.

- Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization.

- Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

- Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and guests.

- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.

- Ability to work independently, identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                    

- This job has supervisory responsibilities.

- Responsible for staff development and training programs.

- Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance.

- Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.

- Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).  

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.  

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
