Job Summary:

The Senior Scheduler assists and supports scheduling efforts on large or multiple projects within an office or region.  The Senior Scheduler assists in facilitating compliance with corporate scheduling standards resulting in transparency of project conditions and assures the timely completion of projects and profitability. The position requires a knowledge of scheduling software, scheduling techniques and a working knowledge of claims techniques. The Senior Scheduler must be a team player and have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Oversees or assists in all stages of project level planning including proposal schedules, baseline setups, and updates within assigned project/office/region.
* Aligns strategies with assigned project/office/regional leads.
* Participates in marketing/business development pursuits opportunities.
* Acts as an administrator for P6 within assigned office.
* Oversees all scheduling deliverables.
* Provides training to schedulers and project teams.
* Oversees schedule system troubleshooting.
* Analyzes scheduling metrics.
* Gathers and analyzes information to prepare reports on the progress of construction.
* Ensures that scheduling follows company policies and procedures.
* Collaborates with jobsite personnel as well as other schedulers.
* Evaluates current procedures and recommends changes to improve the efficiency of project scheduling.
* Participates in schedule review meetings as applicable.
* Takes action on non-compliance issues.

Education and Experience: 

Required Qualifications: 

* Advanced knowledge of P6
* Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products
* 10+ years of related experience within large scale projects
* Bachelor's Degree - Construction Management or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 3 years prior relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Claim management experience
* Strong computer knowledge and efficiency, including scheduling software (P6 experience is a plus)
* Strong understanding of construction and general industry
* Strong written and verbal communication skills 
* Strong collaborator that works with all levels of our organization and project sites to be a resource
* Basic math/statistic & accounting skills
* Dependable and able to travel to jobsites throughout the local office geography
* Quick Decision Maker
* Ability to always maintain discretion and confidentiality

Competencies / Skills: 

Has demonstrated proficiency in

Scheduling Tools & Software: Utilizes Skanska standard scheduling tools and technology to develop manage and analyze project schedules. 

Building and Construction Knowledge: Applies building and construction knowledge, including history, customers, competitive environment, and materials and methods to build quality projects. 

Plans and Specifications: Reads and interprets architectural / structural plans and other design documents to understand the project scope, phasing, logistics, constraints, and different components of the project. 

Contract Management: Reviews the terms of the client's prime contract as well as subcontracts and vendor agreements with special focus on scheduling-specific clauses to implement the contractual requirements in the scheduling process and provides input to the project team as necessary. 

Schedule Management: Monitors project progress by walking jobsites, gathering schedule update information from project teams, facilitating schedule update meetings, participating in owner's meetings, and communicating schedule update, reports and analysis to project stakeholders. 

Schedule Development: Develops bid / proposal and detailed contractual schedules by defining the work breakdown structure, establishing activities, calculating durations based on estimates and production rates, establishing logic, defining critical paths, and analyzing and adjusting schedule to meet contractual requirements. 

Scheduling Reports: Maintains required standard scheduling processes needed to feed data to scheduling dashboards and reporting tools. Utilizes reports to track and communicate active project status through standard KPIs and metrics, and benchmarks against historical data. 

Has a basic understanding of:

Risk and Opportunity Management: Collaborates with the project team to identify risks and opportunities, assess potential impact to schedule, and support the development of mitigation/improvement strategies.  

Client Facing Skills: Presents and demonstrates the merits of our scheduling work and other consultative advice we are providing to clients and other project stakeholders, building trust and confidence. 

Conflict/Dispute Resolution: Handles conflicts and de-escalates disputes between parties. Negotiates resolutions that are agreeable to both parties. 

Project Planning: Collaborates with different project stakeholders to define key milestones, project phasing and sequencing, and identify schedule risks and opportunities in order to guide the project team in developing the project plan. 

Schedule Resource and Cost Management: Utilizes the schedule of values to implement cost/revenue loading and earned value processes, throughout the project lifecycle, in adherence to client's/projects requirements, and prepares reports and required analysis. 

Schedule Delays and Impacts: Assesses, incorporates, and communicates the impacts of project changes and other unforeseen events on the project schedule while following the project specifications and contract requirements. This includes creating schedule fragnets, conducting time impact analysis, window analysis and other forms of forensic analyses to evaluate and identify root causes for project delays. 

Scheduling Training & Coaching: Educates and guides project teams to implement the standards and coaches the team in following and complying with Skanska scheduling processes. 

Lean Principles and Tools: Implements Lean principles and tools  including facilitating interactive planning sessions with project stakeholders and coaching the project team through make ready planning, weekly work planning and daily huddles. 

Travel Requirements: Less than 20%

Work Environment/Conditions: This job is performed both in the office and in the field on an active construction site. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment and systems, which includes average to loud noises, ability to traverse uneven grounds, and possible outdoor weather conditions. Vision requires the capacity for close and far vision, the ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripherial vision. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
