Job Summary:

The Senior Project Engineer works within the Project Management Team which is responsible to plan and oversee the project to ensure a timely and cost effective outcome. This includes budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the project. Ensure the project is constructed in a safe, ethical manner and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. The Project Management Team can vary greatly depending on the size and complexity of the projects, which in turn will affect the number of responsibilities the Senior Project Engineer will be involved in.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

* Supervision of on-site Project Engineers
* Setup initial contracts and project information in PMIS 
* Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals  
* Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFIs 
* Assist in management of project permit process
* Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement
* Update construction schedule based on project team input, Trade Contractor progress and materials delivery  
* Change management systems, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change orders  
* Track and inspect material deliveries 
* Compiles reports regarding financial performance of the project, including PSR, PFC and CI report  
* Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required 
* Attend and/or leads project meetings, as directed by Project Manager and record meeting minutes 
* Assist and/or complete project close-out 
* Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and enforce IFE and Care for Life program on projects with the project team.
* Learn and support the Skanska Culture and way of working and executing projects.

Education and Experience: 

Required Qualifications: 

* 3+ Years of experience creating documentation such as RFIs, and client correspondence on issues related to the notification provisions in contracts.
* 3+ years of reading and understanding construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings. Able to outline specifications required for submission to clients and ensure submittals and shop drawings are approved.
* 2+ years preparing subcontract scopes and contracts.
* 2+ years experience with project close out.
* 1+ years working with cost control systems.
* Bachelor's Degree - Construction Management/Engineering or 8 years equivalent experience plus 3 years prior relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

* Perfered Procore Conctruction Management certification 
* Prefered experience with broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within electrical construction.
* Preferred CMIT certificate
* Working knowledge of design and drawing software to including, but not limited to, Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, NAVIA, and Bluebeam 
* Working knowledge of BIM 360 and BIM 360 Plan
* Working knowledge of Prolog and Primavera P6
* Experience with JD Edwards for timekeeping, project costs, and other project financials
* Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience utilizing email, phone, and Microsoft office platforms
* Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

Has a basic understanding of:

*  Client Delight: Builds relationships with individuals within client organizations to coordinate work and make decisions at the appropriate level for the short-term project and long-term partnership.

*  Building and Construction Knowledge: Applies building and construction knowledge, including history, customers, competitive environment, and materials and methods to build quality projects safely.

*  Commercial Management: Negotiates and manages development and execution of the client's prime contract as well as subcontracts and vendor agreements. Develops, monitors, tracks, and negotiates project costs to ensure projects are successful and profitable. Ensures the financial interests of the company are protected while maintaining positive client relationships.

*  Quality Management - Project Management Building: Develops a project-specific, quality management plan, monitors work sites, and identifies and addresses concerns or issues that do not meet quality standards. Completes quality work documentation and forms to ensure compliance with contracts.

*  Site Logistics: Develops, approves, and communicates site logistics plans, verifying they are in place and clearly understood. Ensures that projects are proceeding according to plan.

Has demonstrated proficiency in:

*  Construction Documentation: Creates documentation such as RFIs, and client correspondence on issues related to the notification provisions in contracts.

*  Construction Drawings / Plans: Reads and understands construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings. Outlines specifications required for submission to client and ensures submittals are approved.

*  Subcontractor Management: Monitors, inspects subcontractor activities to ensure they are performing the work safely, are adhering to schedule, and are producing quality work to ensure they are in line with subcontractor agreements and our client contract obligations.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%

Work Environment/Conditions: This job is performed both in the office and in the field on an active construction site. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment and systems, which includes average to loud noises, ability to traverse uneven grounds, and possible outdoor weather conditions. Vision requires the capacity for close and far vision, the ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripherial vision. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
