				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking a Senior Payroll General Ledger Accountant to join our Accounting Team in Mechanicsburg, PA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Mechanicsburg office.

The GFT Strategic Services team, which includes Human Resources, Legal, Accounting & Finance, Office Operations, IT Services and Marketing & Communications, are essential for managing and supporting the company's global operations. Strategic Services is part of a broader strategy to transform the business and improve efficiency. The support of this amazing team of professionals is the backbone of our ability to deliver infrastructure consulting and design services. 

What you'll be challenged to do:
This is a specialized, high-impact role at the intersection of payroll and accounting and you will have the unique opportunity to build and refine processes, partner closely with payroll, and make a meaningful impact. The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working cross-functionally and wants to play a key role in shaping processes within a growing organization.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Prepares and manages payroll-related general ledger activities including preparing and posting journal entries.
* Manages and executes month-end close payroll related processes including maintaining journal entry checklists and proactively resolving issues.
* Ensures accurate recording of payroll transactions within the general ledger, identifying new payroll to general ledger mappings as needed.
* Performs and reviews account reconciliations for payroll-related balance sheet accounts (wages, taxes, benefits, deductions).
* Identifies, investigates and resolves discrepancies between payroll records, bank accounts, and the general ledger, handling the more complex issues.
* Provides detailed variance analysis and explanations for account fluctuations.
* Develops expertise in payroll systems including earnings, tax, and deduction codes, and related accounting rules. Independently identifies and recommends enhanced system reporting to troubleshoot issues and support reconciliations.
* Ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
* Partners with HR and Payroll teams to proactively identify and implement process improvements.
* Supports internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm: 

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
* 5+ years of payroll accounting experience.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, formula troubleshooting)

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy

* Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

What we prefer you bring: 

* Public accounting highly preferred
* Experience working in large, multi-entity and/or multi-currency environments.
* Experience working in high-volume data environments.
* Experience with accounting and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Deltek VantagePoint).
* Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
