As a senior engineering manager reporting to the Director of R&D, you will partner with our client's global engineering and marketing teams to ensure our client's communication products are developed on time, meet customer requirements and are of high quality. Our British Columbia client is a leader in wireless communication systems. Due to their excellent success in both revenue and IP generation, we are selectively adding to their team.
You will lead the architecture and design of embedded software involving the evolution of existing product lines, as well as the next generation products. You will use your system level understanding of the hardware domain, and the practical application of communication products to solve real world problems.
Title: Engineering Manager (senior level)
Location: British Columbia, Canada
Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried position offering an excellent compensation package and comprehensive benefits.
Requirements: 5+ years of management and supervision of a software engineering team (~20 engineers). 10+ years of experience in embedded software development using object-oriented design principles and modern operating systems such as Linux. Design of real-time and mission critical communication products. Strong knowledge of Linux, as well as routers and gateways.
Pluses: Global, multi-site product development. Cellular wireless, WiFi and GPS.
Other: Refine existing processes as well as establish new process for the development team. Selection of programming languages and operating systems. Selection of development tool chains. Collect metrics data, report on project progress and any project specific information to partners and internal stakeholders. Motivate, coach and mentor members of the team. Foster team communications in a multi-site development environment. Chair design review meetings and instill software development practices that lead to stable & mission critical software products. Set goals and objectives for direct reports. Administer performance evaluations, plan training and career development of direct reports. Assess, coach and develop team competencies. Lead on-going embedded software development process improvement.
