Avalara is looking for Senior Director, Business Technology to oversee the strategy, administration, and scaling of our GTM and Customer Support systems tech stack. This important leadership role will align technology solutions with overarching goals, promoting innovation, and advocating for a culture of continuous improvement to ensure our long-term success and scalability. You will be both a hands-on contributor, building the foundation for a best-in-class Business systems function and making a significant impact and shape the future of Avalara. You will report to the VP of Business Technology. This is a remote opportunity. #LI-Remote This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Responsibilities: * You will build a scalable systems roadmap that aligns with team goals- integrating seamlessly with existing platforms (Salesforce Sales, Service Cloud, & Salesforce CPQ) * Partner with teams across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success/Support and Operations to define requirements, design system enhancements, and implement impactful solutions * Implement technology solutions, focusing on seller productivity, operational efficiency, and scalability while maintaining security controls and permissions * Establish and enforce best practices for system design, Salesforce governance, documentation, and data integrity, ensuring accurate data across platforms * Build, lead and inspire global business systems teams to achieve while encouraging a culture of innovation, and accountability * Oversee complex projects, assess latest technologies, and implement solutions to enhance customer experience, promoting productivity, workflows, analytics, reporting, and tool adoption * Drive AI adoption across their teams and projects Qualifications: * Minimum of 6 years work experience building and managing Systems and operations * Minimum of 6 years management experience * Experience in technical SaaS offering, and experience with product-led growth motions. * Expert proficiency in Salesforce architecture and hands-on engineering skills, with experience managing complex systems and implementations * Knowledge of tooling, activities, and administrative best practices across the full revenue lifecycle-including Salesforce, CPQ solutions, and adjacent tools like Gainsight, Conga, DocuSign, and similar tools * Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate or improve software development processes and Prompt Engineering best practices Pay Range Details The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations. Colorado $166,100-$274,100 (annually) Washington $166,100-$303,100 (annually) California $166,100-$331,900 (annually) NYC $183,700-$331,900 (annually) The pay range above is the general base pay range for you in the state listed. Your actual salary/wage may be based on several factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, market and business considerations. This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and your role.
