				Overview:

GovCIO is currently hiring a highly skilled Senior Data Center Operations Engineer to manage and optimize mission-critical data center operations for the U.S. Coast Guard. This will be located in Alexandria, VA and will be an onsite position.

Responsibilities:

* Manage all aspects of data center operations, ensuring high availability, reliability, and compliance with federal standards. 
* Implement proactive monitoring strategies, analyze performance trends, and mitigate risks before they impact mission-critical systems. 
* Provide expert guidance on complex hardware installations, structured cabling, and power systems; validate designs and ensure adherence to best practices. 
* Develop and refine operational procedures, introduce automation tools, and champion efficiency improvements across the facility. 
* Enforce strict access control measures, lead audits, and ensure compliance with federal security and safety protocols. 
* Direct outage recovery efforts, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 
* Forecast resource needs, manage equipment lifecycle, and ensure scalability for future mission requirements. 
* Train and mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. 
* Maintain comprehensive records of equipment status, maintenance activities, and configuration changes within DCIM systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 8+ year (or commensurate experience). 

Required Skills and Experience

* Advanced knowledge of UPS systems, power distribution, and electrical safety standards. 
* Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure. 
* Proficiency in copper and fiber optic cabling termination and testing. 
* Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate cross-functional teams. 
* Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in demanding environments. 
* Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and on-call rotations.

Clearance Required: Must be clearable up to an active Secret clearance

Preferred Skills and Experience

* Prior experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or other federal agencies. 
* Expertise with environmental monitoring tools and DCIM platforms. 
* Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, cabling standards). 
* Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
