				Overview:

We're seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex automation and controls projects. This role is ideal for a self-motivated engineer who thrives on technical challenges, enjoys mentoring others, and is passionate about delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design electrical systems, develop PLC/HMI programs, and support the commissioning of advanced machinery-helping drive our Lean culture and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an on-site position at our state of the art facility in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Responsibilities:
What You'll Do
* Lead and execute electrical and controls design for automation projects with minimal supervision.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Controls Engineers.
* Design electrical schematics, enclosure layouts, and related documentation.
* Develop and implement PLC, HMI, and robotic programs for automated systems.
* Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to meet project requirements and timelines.
* Support manufacturing assembly, installation, and site acceptance testing (SAT).
* Maintain project schedules and status in MPI's information system (Epicor Projects).
* Ensure compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and MPI safety standards.
* Participate in daily Lean meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:
What You'll Bring
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Experience: 6-10 years in electrical design and programming for capital equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems).
* Technical Skills:
* Strong background in PLC programming (Omron, Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred).
* Experience with HMI software (Indusoft preferred).
* Experience with robotic programming (ABB, Fanuc a plus).
* Proficiency in CAD for schematics and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to evaluate processes for efficiency and waste reduction.
* Willingness to travel occasionally for customer-site commissioning.
