About the team
Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for leading and guiding a team to solve complex problems while providing a secure, stable, and scalable platform for Kinaxis's hosted services. Cloud Platform Engineer will ensure service excellence and availability for customers globally, 7x24x365, and will partner with leaders inside and outside of the Cloud Services team to architect, maintain, and operate a unique infrastructure across both private and cloud platforms.

What you will do
* Lead, collaborate, and coordinate across multiple teams as a technical primary on assigned features to clarify the problem, and proactively develop long term solutions. Ensure requirements are met, and implementation and execution and testing are delivered with excellence. Shares knowledge and provides clear and concise documentation. Advise and maintain a feedback loop with teams contributing to and consuming the cloud platform.
* Within the functions of cloud operations, the incumbent contributes to and supports the production eco-system with emphasis on Software-as-a-Service to customers. While working in collaboration with engineering teams to ensure systems are designed and implemented with operability, security, performance, and availability. The operations role will continue to evolve in leveraging infrastructure, software engineering principles and financial governance, to address operational challenges with a focus on increased automation.
* Follow the software development lifecycle to translate business and technical requirements into infrastructure as code.
* Implement code of intermediate complexity that spans multiple areas of functionality with performance and testability in mind. Applies software engineering principles to operational challenges with a focus on automation, security, self-healing, and monitoring solutions.
* Ability to troubleshoot issues within the cloud platform.
* Log defects and provide explanations for the platform behaviour for multiple components. Recommend workarounds for customer support teams and resolve and test moderate to advanced defects. Identifies the need for tactical solutions, collaborating with experienced SMEs.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and metrics to track cloud usage and costs. Focus on developing process improvement initiatives for cloud cost management.
* Create acceptance criteria across multiple areas with a focus on operational readiness, solution reliability and resilience. Identify and document gaps in test plans.
* Operate in a security and regulated environment that requires the incumbent to interpret, develop, and apply security best practices to infrastructure and applications. This requires working level comprehension of IAM, role-based access controls, network security, and means of isolating environments within cloud infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities and remediations, and related industry practices.
* Actively leads and engages with the team to develop and grow the team's skills through sharing experiences and results of research on the latest technology trends. Work to build a shared ownership of the design and implementation across the team.
* Proactively seek opportunities to learn and develop including but not limited to participating in mentoring programs, technical training, attending conferences etc.
Technologies we use
* Experience designing and building multi-tenant IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions on either Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
* Experience with cloud-native solution design patterns (microservices, messaging, distributed caching, containers etc.)
* Proven project management experience, setting project vision/scope and overseeing delivery
* Proven track record of successfully adopting new technologies at an enterprise-wide level.
* Experience leading delivery of managed SaaS services to enterprise customers
* Extensive understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
* Experience with infrastructure as code development along with configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
* Brings a passion for all things security and reliability
* Dedicated to building strong feedback loops into product and engineering organizations
* Brings a belief that production excellence is a shared responsibility
What we are looking for
* Bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent related discipline.
* 5 years of directly related experience, including technical experience in leading development, testing efforts on several features with advanced complexity, and in operations developing infrastructure as code. Can describe the process followed to deliver those capabilities, challenges faced and how they were overcome.
* A clear, concise, and professional communicator with the ability to present complex information and demonstrate knowledge within direct and indirect team at the appropriate level for the listener. Active listening skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and consider input from others to determine the best course of action. Use of empathy and influence during interactions.
* Ability to make proposals and consider input from others to provide input into planning the best course of action.
* Intermediate to advanced skills in information systems, and cloud related industry software tools, services, and hardware, and Kinaxis product knowledge is required.
