Overview: Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced, senior level Registered Architect to assist in leading projects in our Ellicott City, MD, Newport News, VA or Richmond, VA offices. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. We are seeking candidates who are eager for both personal and professional growth, possess a strong understanding of design and construction document processes, and can adapt to both short-term and long-term projects in a creative yet technically demanding environment. This role requires a skilled professional architect responsible for all phases of architectural production and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for various industrial, manufacturing and food & personal care projects, from programming to construction administration. Annual salary range for this position is $125,400.00 - $162,300.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. Responsibilities: * Architectural lead for projects in a multi-disciplinary A&E firm team environment. * Provide architectural design for Industrial, Manufacturing and GMP facilities. * Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior architects and designers, and delegating work as required as well as providing management of the local team. * Coordinates with a project manager to directly supervise the team's design, schedule and technical delivery. * Perform various design tasks including Code Reviews, Conceptual Design Studies, Program Requirements, Front-End-Loading Design (FEL), Calculations, Specification writing, and Construction Document preparation and redlines. * Ensure internal communication and coordination of design efforts. * Coordinate all support activities required to complete all design efforts and quality assurance processes. * Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule and budget commitments, and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. * Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work. * Prepare fee proposals for Architectural design work. * Travel to client sites and for project meetings and site surveys as needed. Merrick does work all over the country but has many local DMV jobs as well. * This position will be directly under the Architectural Technical Lead (TL) for the Energy, Manufacturing and Bioprocessing business unit. Qualifications: * Twelve (12) years minimum experience with five (5) years minimum as a Registered Architect. * Bachelor's degree in architecture. * Licensed Architect. * Experience in all phases of design, with a track record of successful project completion. * Technical experience in industrial/manufacturing facilities - many of the architectural services we provide are building expansions, new metal buildings, interior renovations and retrofits. Heavy focus on process/factory facilities, GMP facilities, hazardous chemical storage, EV facilities, additive manufacturing, RF chambers, SCIF's, office spaces, locker rooms, etc. Form follows function architecture. * Proficient working in Revit, AutoCAD, 3D modeling programs (Revit required & Sketch Up preferred) and Adobe Creative Suite. * Skilled in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint. * Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
