Overview:
Merrick & Company, an employee-owned engineering and architectural firm headquartered in Colorado, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing complex financial transactions.
Typical salary range for this position is $93,000.00 - $105,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in month end and ensure accurate journal entries and analysis on accounts for Merrick & Company and its subsidiaries.
* Perform general ledger account reconciliations, and identify, and resolve discrepancies and errors discovered during account analysis.
* Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
* Support internal and external audit processes as needed.
* Assist the Accounting Manager in doing tax research related to tax notices, new locations of performance, and international areas of performance.
* Oversee routine tax payments, including sales tax, excise tax, and quarterly state and federal tax transactions.
* Perform preliminary research on technical accounting issues and financial reporting issues and review the findings with the Accounting Manager.
* Support implementation and operation of technical accounting policies and procedures under Accounting Manager guidance. Stay abreast of financial reporting and regulatory changes that may impact the business.
* Participate in the implementation of acquired companies by playing a key role in the integration of the acquired company into the Company's ERP system.
* Work collaboratively with the Corporate Accounting team by communicating effectively, completing tasks assigned in the timeframe provided, and being flexible to assist with other tasks or issues.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
* CPA certification required.
* Previous A&E industry experience with project accounting experience.
* Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
* Self-starter, with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities, set goals and objectives, use time efficiently, and manage competing priorities
* Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position, along with strong interpersonal and communication abilities
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and accounting software.
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
* Ability to drive work independently and manage multiple projects that vary in scope and complexity simultaneously.
* Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
