				Overview:
Senior Accessibility Engineer
Location: Hyderabad Work Arrangement: Hybrid | 3 Days in Office
About the Role
The Senior Accessibility Engineer designs, builds, and operates automated and manual accessibility validation capabilities across Hyland's digital product portfolio. This role ensures sustained compliance with WCAG 2.2, Section 508, and EN 301 549, while enabling product teams to independently identify, prevent, and remediate accessibility issues.

This role combines engineering-depth accessibility knowledge with hands-on coding ability - authoring, extending, troubleshooting, and reviewing code in support of automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, Design Systems, and remediation guidance. The Senior Accessibility Engineer partners closely with the Software Accessibility Architect, translating standards and strategy into working systems, guardrails, tooling, and actionable outputs that scale across teams.

This role requires strong coding ability, particularly in:

* Test automation
* CI/CD integration
* Code review & troubleshooting
* Accessibility remediation guidance
Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.
* Design, maintain, and evolve automated accessibility testing frameworks using Playwright and axe-core; integrate accessibility automation into GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and/or Jenkins with quality gates that prevent releases with regressions.
* Author and extend JavaScript, Python, and/or Java-based automation libraries to cover regulatory requirements beyond out-of-the-box tooling; analyze scan results and translate findings into engineering-ready defects mapped to WCAG 2.2 success criteria, severity, and remediation guidance.
* Perform manual accessibility testing using JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android; validate and triage automated findings and identify interaction-level failures including keyboard, focus, naming, and dynamic content issues.
* Translate WCAG 2.2, Section 508, and EN 301 549 into engineering acceptance criteria and Design System accessibility requirements; conduct pull request and code reviews to detect ARIA misuse, semantic HTML issues, focus errors, and accessible name failures.
* Build and maintain JIRA-based accessibility dashboards tracking scan coverage, defect aging, remediation velocity, and regulatory risk; produce structured test reports with root cause analysis and clear remediation recommendations.
* Provide hands-on coaching through code reviews, pairing, office hours, and structured training for developers and QA; conduct formal accessibility audits, prioritize findings by severity, and track remediation through verified closure.
Technology Tools
* Automation & Testing: Playwright, axe-core
* Languages: JavaScript, Python, Java
* Screen Readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS), TalkBack (Android)
* CI/CD: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins
* Design Systems: Angular Material, React Design Systems
* Project Management & Reporting: JIRA
Role Essentials
* 5+ years of relevant experience with significant expertise in JavaScript and working knowledge of Python and/or Java for automation library development.
* Solid working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 guidelines (Level A/AA) with the ability to map defects to specific success criteria.
* Strong expertise in ARIA roles, properties, and states; understanding of accessible design patterns and semantic HTML5.
* Hands-on experience with Playwright for automated testing and axe-core or similar accessibility scanning tools.
* Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and JIRA for defect tracking and dashboard creation.
What We'd Like to See
* Accessibility certifications (e.g., IAAP CPACC) or contributions to open-source accessibility projects.
* Experience building custom accessibility testing frameworks or creating comprehensive accessibility dashboards.
* Strong knowledge of Design Systems such as Angular Material, Carbon DS, React DS, or Salesforce DS.
* Experience working in agile teams with a proven ability to conduct peer reviews and provide constructive feedback.
* Proficiency with Windows (NVDA, JAWS) and macOS (VoiceOver) screen readers for identifying and validating accessibility issues.
