Overview: Security Officer II UnityPoint Health - Allen Shift: Full-time; M-F 1500-2300 Benefits Eligible Potential Sign-On Bonus: $3,000 paid over 1 year The Security Officer II is responsible for providing security screening services that seek to create a safe and secure environment for the hospital community. The Security Officer II undertakes activities designed to identify, deter, abate, or correct situations; both routine and emergent that are within the scope of responsibility for the department, as they occur on hospital owned or controlled property. Responsibilities: * Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. * Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises. * Confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. * Screen visitors, patients, and team members at entrances. * Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations. * Complete incident report on any significant security incident or concern, relays safety related information as appropriate Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma or highest level of post-secondary education * 1 year relevant safety and security experience * Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons * Must obtain Iowa weapons permit and be Taser certified within 30 days * Certification from International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety (if not certified, must obtain certification within 90 days) or commiserate experience * Ability to de-escalate violent, aggressive, or disruptive persons * Use of critical thinking in a high stress environment * Excellent observation skills Preferred: * Associate's or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice law enforcement preferred * Military, law enforcement and/or security experience is highly preferred
