Overview: UnityPoint-St. Luke's Full-Time (Evenings/Nights) The Security Officer II is to provide a safe and secure environment for all UnityPoint Health properties. Provides input in developing security procedures, which address the day-to-day physical security needs of UnityPoint. The Security Officer II will assist with patients, visitors, and staff as needed or requested. The Security Officer II responds to emergency and routine requests for service. The Security Officer II documents relevant calls, conducts investigations as appropriate, monitor's security cameras, and other equipment as directed. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, Psyche/Social, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria), appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Successful completion of these duties on a regular basis contributes to UnityPoint's vision of best outcome, every patient, every time, also helping to provide for a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities: Safety/Security * Assists with the daily operation of assigned functions for UPH, parking lots and off-site properties while utilizing a team-oriented approach to duties and focusing on continuous improvement. * Build and maintain effective customer relations with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and administration. * Initiate and maintain a work environment that encourages cooperation, collaboration, positive results and teamwork throughout the organization. * Demonstrates proficiency in each job function within the Security Officer's job description and acts as a role model for the officers. * Ensure structured training, in-service classes, coaching and mentoring support system to Security Officers by communicating performance expectations, goals and personal objectives for officer growth and to achieve compliance with all Regulatory Agencies. * Monitor quality of services through documented inspection tours and customer focused interactions through a continuous improvement approach. Develop and implement quality improvement strategies. * Assists in evaluating, monitoring and action planning to ensure departmental budget compliance. * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. * Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. * Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule. * Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. * Serves as an assistant instructor for MOAB training. Physical Environment of Care * Monitor quality of services through documented inspection tours and customer focused interactions through a continuous improvement approach. Develop and implement quality improvement strategies. * Monitor and report any unsafe conditions. Qualifications: High school graduate or GED equivalent. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Must have competency training completed within the first six (6) months of employment to include Pepper Spray usage.
