Responsibilities:
SUMMARY
The Security Officer is responsible for properly executing security duties on an assigned shift to adequately protect the life and property of customers, employees, and others on HCCTR property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES other duties may be assigned:
* Ensures the safety of employees and others.
* Greets patrons and visually inspects bags, purses and patrons for unauthorized items.
* Reports to the Security supervisor, any violations, acts or situations which are detrimental to the best interest of HCCTR.
* Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, etc.
* Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
* Ensures behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
* Maintains complete confidentiality at all times with respect to the internal functions of the Security department as well as any other information deemed to be confidential.
* Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.
* Participates in meetings and training as required.
* Performs all job duties in a safe and responsible manner and reports safety hazards immediately.
* Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management.
* Prepares reports as requested or required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, employees and others. Effective in communicating and presenting information and responding to questions from supervisors, managers, fellow employees and/or the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must obtain licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commissions every year of employment.
Other Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Must have good observation skills. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours and overtime as business needs dictate. Must speak clearly and politely; respond well to questions. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees. Previous customer service experience preferred. Displays excellent customer service skills and building positive team spirit.
