Responsibilities: Job Title: Security Guard - Control Room Location: Guildford - Surrey, BC Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Wage: $22.50 per hour Schedule: Variable shifts, including weekends and holidays * Days: 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. * Evenings: 4:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. * Overnights: 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Position Overview Allied Universal is seeking a highly observant and detail-oriented Security Guard - Control Room to support security operations at a busy commercial site in Guildford, Surrey, BC. Working from the control room, you will be responsible for monitoring surveillance systems, managing access control points, responding to alarms, and supporting dispatch coordination. As a Security Guard- Control Room you are required to have strong communication skills, technical competency, and the ability to remain calm, alert, and responsive throughout your shift. Your performance will directly contribute to the safety of guests, tenants, and the property. Key Responsibilities * Monitor CCTV, access control systems, and life safety alarms from the control room * Conduct virtual patrols and monitor multiple screens for unusual activity * Dispatch mobile or foot patrol officers to incidents or areas of concern * Log all security-related activities using digital reporting tools * Respond quickly to alarms and coordinate with emergency responders when needed * Control access to restricted areas and issue visitor passes as required * Maintain clear and continuous communication with field personnel via radio or phone * Follow all emergency and site-specific procedures for escalations and safety responses * Report technical issues with monitoring equipment or systems promptly Qualifications & Requirements * Valid BC Security Worker License * Valid First Aid/CPR Certification * Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) * Proficient with computers, video surveillance software, and digital reporting tools * Previous experience in a control room, monitoring, or dispatch role is an asset * High level of professionalism, discretion, and situational awareness Key Competencies * Exceptional focus and attention to detail * Calm and effective under pressure * Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills * Dependable, with sound judgment and decision-making ability * Self-motivated and comfortable working independently * Effective communicator and quick problem-solver Working Conditions * Indoor control room environment with prolonged screen time * Must remain focused and alert for entire shift duration * May include rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays * Regular use of radio equipment, CCTV, and alarm systems Why Join Allied Universal? * Stable and consistent full-time schedule * Paid training and ongoing professional development * Advancement opportunities into specialized or leadership roles * Join a respected, professional team in a high-profile setting Allied Universal is an equal opportunity employer.
