Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY

Performs clerical and administrative duties relating primarily to the daily scheduling of outpatient admissions for the
assigned department. Work is conducted in accordance with established standards and procedures, and requires the
ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Schedules patients for department services or studies based on physician referral.

Calls patients to set up and confirm appointments; follows up to ensure that each referral is contacted and a
disposition is reached; records cancellations and reschedules time slot.

* Answers, screens and directs telephone calls.

Provides information in response to general inquiries from patients, visitors, staff and others.

* Performs related general office/clerical support duties.

* 
* Transfers patient data to internal forms, and faxes paperwork to Admitting for patient pre-registration.
* Assembles and processes charts for scheduled patients in accordance with established procedures.
* Types, collates and assembles documents; and photocopying/faxing reports, files, charts and related materials.
* Proofs dictated reports for missing information and returns for correction, distributes corrected copy to appropriate physician.
* Monitors/orders standard office supplies.
* Establishes, maintains and updates files, records, accounts and other information as needed to support and document office activities.
* Enters, corrects and/or batches daily charges into automated system according to established procedures; reviews reports to validate that charges are accurate for services received; ensures that inaccuracies are corrected.

Qualifications:

Education/Work Experience Requirements

One year of related work experience, OR any combination of experience and education that would demonstrate the capability to perform the required knowledge, skills and abilities position.  Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through formal education or previous healthcare work experience is strongly preferred.
