Responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact in this role
* Provides leadership support to safety staff, fostering a positive work environment, ensuring team readiness, and escalating performance concerns as needed.
* Manages Environment of Care (EC), Life Safety, and Emergency Management (EM) programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk identification, and effective policy implementation.
* Oversees safety monitoring, incident investigations, and root cause analysis to identify risks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Develops and delivers training programs on safety, hazard prevention, and regulatory standards for staff and leadership.
* Supports policy and procedure development, interpretation, and compliance, maintaining documentation systems (e.g., FMOS) and ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements.
* Maintains and improves regulatory documentation and facility management plans, ensuring readiness for inspections and compliance with all applicable standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Safety, Emergency Management, or related field, or a high school diploma with 7 years experience in hospital safety management, security management, risk management, emergency management, facilities management, quality improvement, infection control, or related field -required.
* Master's degree from a program centered on Safety, Emergency Management, or related -preferred.
License/Certification:
* Valid Driver's License -required.
* Relevant certifications in areas of Environmental/Regulatory compliance and safety including IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 -required.
* Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) -required.
* Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) -preferred.
Experience:
* At least seven years of experience in inpatient health care safety and/or emergency management -required.
* Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role -preferred.
* Previous experience developing policies and procedures -preferred.
Competencies:
* Knowledge of safety/emergency management, hospital/facilities management, clinical engineering, and/or regulatory standards is required.
* Experience in developing policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Analytical skills to comprehend and interpret complex regulations, perform data analysis, and communicate results to others.
* Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
* Organizational and project management skills.
* Effective written, verbal, and presentational communication skills.
* Performs work with a high degree of latitude.
* Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter.
