Recruiter: Rachel Dudek-Fleming || apply@covhlth.com Responsibilities: * Supervises and coordinates the functions of assigned sections to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity. * Assures integrity of patient specimens, quality control, equipment performance and maintenance. * Monitors section functions; prepares related reports and charts. * Designs training programs for assigned sections. Conducts training in phlebotomy and specimen processing functions. * Directly supervises laboratory staff in assigned sections. * Consults regularly with the assistant director and/or manager of the day as appropriate. * Communicates effectively with testing personnel as required. * Submits recommendations for capital budget and staffing levels to the assistant director. * Prepares procedures for assigned sections. Maintains section procedure manuals. * Maintains adequate supplies for assigned sections. Monitors inventory levels. * Assists in the orientation of new employees in the department. * Collects/processes specimens as necessary using established techniques for the various age groups assigned. * Monitors safety and infection control aspects for assigned sections. * Monitors morgue supplies and cleanliness. Informs appropriate MMC department of supply and cleaning needs. Reports problems to the pathologist on call. * Performs departmental maintenance and other duties as assigned. * Remains mentally alert and maintains concentration with attention to detail for prolonged periods, at times under stress. Maintains adaptability, flexibility, initiative, persistence, and efficiency of time management and action. * Does not pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others. Provides safe, efficient, competent care to population assigned. Meets MMC Environment of Care Standards. * Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Qualifications: Minimum Education: A high school diploma or its equivalent is required with course work to include English, typing, filing and general office etiquette. Minimum Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of phlebotomy and specimen processing experience is required. Licensure Requirement: None
