All services operated by Xanterra, including lodging, dining, retail, and tour operations, are currently open and continue to operate as planned for the 2025 summer season. We're hiring a Rooms & Retail Training Specialist to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon!

Job Summary:
Develop and facilitate training opportunities within the Rooms and Retail departments to equip employees with the skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer experiences.

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Season Dates: N/A
Pay: $38,896 a year
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:

* Train and promote Xanterra's Legendary Hospitality service standards to Lodging and Retail emplolyees at the Grand Canyon National Parks and Lodges. 
* Develop strategies to incorporate a guest service and hospitality mindset into the professional development of all employees.
* Co-facilitate property-wide New Employee Orientation
* Lead department traning for Lodging/Rooms and Retail department employees including: Guest Service Agents, Guest Rooms Attendants, Porters, Bell Persons, Night Auditors, Retail Associates
* Consult with department leadership and subject matter experts to capture training and development goals for staff. 
* Orient Guest service employees to procedures and systems that will be used to perform day-to-day operations.
* Perform on the job training at various work units
* Conduct compliance audits for Rooms and Retail departments for management review. Audited outlets may include: Hotel front desks, Housekeeping, Retail outlets
* Maintain training materials for classes by updating manuals with current policies and procedures
* Facilitate money handling training and ensure that staff within the Lodging/Rooms and Retail departments are in compliance with Xanterra money handling policies and procedures
* Follow up with new hires to ensure successful onboarding
* Schedule required training classes and track employee participation through Xanterra's Learning Management System
* Facilitate other hospitality Learning & Development training topics as needed.

Qualifications:

* Hotel and retail customer service expeirence: hotel front desk, housekeeping, or hotel work experience, retail customer service.
* Have knowledge of reservation management software, OPERA software.
* Have knowlede of retail point of sale software, MI9.
* Training and development experience, on the job training, department orientation, deployment of company-wide learning initiatives, individual coaching.
* Learning Management System experience a plus.
* You are curious and have a passion for learning. Have a genuine desire to help employees succeed.
* Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint software.
* Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver's License and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.

Physical Requirements include:

Position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching outward and above the shoulder, squatting & kneeling occassionally, the ability to lift/carry 10 lbs or less frequently and occasionally 21-50 lbs, as well as push/pull 12 - 40 lbs occasionally.
