				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking a Roadway Designer/Civil Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in Toronto! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As an early career Roadway Designer/Civil Engineer you will be responsible for providing design & multidisciplinary coordination for a complex civil/utility infrastructure project in the Greater Toronto Area. In this role, you will have the opportunity to advance your civil engineering design skills and take on significant responsibility for delivering exciting work.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

* Thrive in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team environment, enhancing infrastructure that supports sustainable growth and mobility in the Greater Toronto Area.

* Contribute to planning, preliminary design and detail design for impactful infrastructure projects.

* Build detailed engineering drawings, embracing a variety of complexities, and partake in broader engineering activities.

* Engage in developing practical applications of engineering principles to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards.

* Join the digital transformation by producing plans, 3D models, and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or MicroStation & InRoads.

* Gather, record, and analyze information for cost estimating, preparing specifications, and technical writing input for proposals and reports.

* Conduct site inspections and investigations during the design development process.

* Actively interface with clients and participate in meetings to build cross-functional networking opportunities.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm:

* An eagerness to learn, collaborate, and grow in a supportive, innovative environment.

* Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

* 1-5 years of applicable experience, including internships, co-ops, or summer projects, in road, transportation, or transit design.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or Certified Engineering 
* Technician (CET) certification in Ontario.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and a basic understanding of current trends in transportation engineering.

What we prefer you bring:

* Experience with Bentley MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads and AutoCAD & Civil 3D.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* A methodical approach to problem solving combined with innovative thinking.

* Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently with guidance from mentors and peers.

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
