Job Summary

The Risk & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing risk mitigation strategies across the organization. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, manages incident reporting and policy development, and supports operational continuity through proactive planning and cross-functional collaboration. The Risk & Safety Manager serves as a central resource for safety protocols, insurance coordination, and regulatory adherence, working closely with HR, Learning & Development, Facilities, YSIC, Camps and Operations teams. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

This is a temporary, full-time, hybrid position with an expected end date of March 1, 2026. Schedule will be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with 2 days in office required. Occasional on-call, evening, or weekend work as needed to meet position requirements.

Hiring range: $80,168.40 - $85,000 annually.

Responsibilities:

Risk Oversight & Compliance

* Assist in development of Risk Matrix and Accident Prevention
* Manage incident cases from initial reporting through resolution, including notifying insurance carriers, coordinating with external adjusters, and providing detailed documentation and findings from incident 
* Manage and conduct incident investigation, reporting and review processes, ensuring timely documentation, analysis, and follow-up.
* Maintain and update Risk Management policies and 
* Review CPR certifications submitted via FreshService tickets from Learning & 
* Manage the Authorized Driver Certification process in partnership with HR, including approvals and 
* Respond to tickets related to risk, safety, and compliance
* Support volunteer-related risk processes including background checks and escalation management (CAP).

Aquatics & Child Safety Support

* Assists with aquatic safety audits, drills, and certification 
* Supports implementation of the YMCA Aquatics Safety
* Coordinates with health departments and regulatory agencies as 

Training, Safety Programs & Culture Development

* Develop safety training content in collaboration with L&D.
* Collaborate with CoE to facilitate effective Safety Committee 
* Conduct facility audits and inspections, including residential and overnight 
* Facilitate Incident and Accident Management training and 
* Ensure compliance with driving safety 
* Develop weekly Safety talks and 
* Develop annual refresher training content for staff and 

Insurance & Regulatory Coordination

* Manage insurance renewal processes in collaboration with insurance 
* Participate in strategic planning sessions with the Insurance 
* Ensure timely distribution of COIs and coordination with third-party brokers (e.g., USI).
* Monitor and renew regulatory licenses and permits, including amusement licenses and inflatables 
* Oversee compliance with OSHA 300 posting and removal 
* Prepare and submit quarterly and year-end Risk Assessment Reports to Risk & Safety 

Risk Management Yearly Calendar Management

* Maintain and execute the Risk Management yearly calendar, ensuring timely completion of audits, training, and compliance tasks.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align risk initiatives with organizational 
* Support cross-departmental collaboration on safety, insurance, and volunteerism-related risk 

Data & Reporting

* Maintain risk management systems and 
* Ensure timely and accurate data entry for incidents and compliance 
* Prepare reports for Risk & Safety Director and 
* Use data to support continuous improvement of safety
* Risk Management Yearly Calendar Management
* Maintain and execute the Risk Management yearly calendar, ensuring timely completion of audits, training, and compliance tasks.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align risk initiatives with organizational 
* Support cross-departmental collaboration on safety, insurance, and volunteerism-related risk 

Collaboration & Support

* Work closely with Risk Director, HR, Branch Operations, and other
* Participate in Safety, Child Protection, and Aquatics 

Other

* Adhere to policies related to boundaries with
* Complete required abuse risk management 
* Follow procedures for managing high-risk 
* Meet mandated reporting 
* Fulfill job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Code of Conduct for Applicants 

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Safety, Public Administration, Management or related 
* 2-4 years of experience in safety coordination, risk management, or compliance
* Familiarity with OSHA/WISHA, aquatic safety, and child protection 
* Strong organizational, communication, and analytical 
* Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and risk management

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
* Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be
* Experience in nonprofit or youth-serving organizations 
* Experience with legal or insurance
