Overview: Respiratory Therapist - Registered UnityPoint Clinic - Cedar Rapids Medical Office Full Time - 40 hours per week Sign-on Bonus Eligible Responsibilities: Clinical Excellence/Patient Care * Demonstrates clinical competency and technical knowledge in the delivery of pulmonary function diagnostic testing and administration of patient respiratory interventions. * Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care. * Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgement and maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions impacting the pulmonary patient population. * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. * Assesses needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care. * Assist nursing and providers with plan of care development and integrates a multidisciplinary approach. * Conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the organization's commitment to patients' safety and quality outcomes. * Follows protocol for the regular maintenance, calibration, and repairs of respiratory therapy equipment. Clinical Excellence/Patient Education * Assesses needs of patients and families, choosing teaching strategies appropriate to the audience and their age specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn and level of comprehension. * Provides educational opportunities to patients, families and other health care associates focusing on health and preventative maintenance. Clinical Excellence/ Professional Development * Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance respiratory care practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research. * Participates in department and UPC meetings, workgroups, shared governance infrastructure and performance improvement activities. * Balances team and individual responsibilities, be open and objective to other's views, give and welcome feedback, contribute to positive team goals, and put the success of the team above own interests. * Assists in the training of Respiratory Therapy personnel, including helping with orientation, competency testing, and serving as a resource and mentor. * Participates in clinical instruction of students and other healthcare workers. * Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development Qualifications: * Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist program. * Basic knowledge of Pulmonary and Cardiovascular anatomy and physiology * One year of experience in/with skills in respiratory therapy, diagnostic testing, or respiratory equipment. * Must possess and maintain BLS Certification * Current Iowa R.C.P. license obtained after completion of entry-level RRT examination from NBRC. * Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
