				Overview:

Waters Global Research is looking for an energetic and creative scientist to join the Chemistry team to help bring new affinity chromatography technologies to the forefront of the industry. This is a unique position that features split duties between our Cambridge, MA and Milford, MA offices, providing an opportunity to work with our research teams out of both offices and to collaborate with prominent researchers in the Cambridge area. The Global Research team is looking for an early career individual to help change the way we think about problems, inspire new ideas, and contribute to the next generation of innovations in chromatography and sample preparation.

The Waters Global Research Chemistry team performs early, cutting-edge research on novel separation technologies and closed automation systems that are used in measurements of the life, food, and materials sciences industries. We are committed to understanding customer needs and pivoting these insights into new and exciting technologies to address those needs. The Chemistry team is a cross-functional research segment that integrates with the Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Clinical, Biological Sciences, and Informatics teams to explore technologies and develop novel system solutions for the critical problems of the Life Sciences. We interface with our respective business unit organizations and consumers to understand the problems that plague the industries and collaborate to drive ideas to solutions.

Responsibilities:

Innovate and Develop: Identify, champion, and develop new scientific ideas while working on existing research and development activities.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with research scientists and engineers on research prototypes with team members across geographies and specialties.

Partnerships: Collaborate with academic and industrial partners to incubate emerging technology. Develop a deep understanding of customer needs through these collaborations and feed this information into the organization to develop next-generation scientific instrumentation.

Develop Scientific Leadership: Provide scientific leadership that significantly impacts research projects and the wider scientific community through patents and publications in internationally recognized journals.

Global Engagement: Travel the world (less than 10% of the time) in support of research activities and present Waters technologies at seminars and conferences.

Qualifications:

* 3 or more years of practical experience in bioanalytical chemistry 
* Recent Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline, M.S. with 3 or more years experience, or B.S. with 5 or more years experience
* Hands on experiences with immunoassays preferred (e.g., ELISA, Western Blots)
* Innovative mindset and agility to foster new and diverse ideas
* Well-developed oral and written communication skills 
* Proficiency in LC instrumentation use/maintenance desirable
