Responsibilities:
J-1 research scholars will perform tasks that are consistent with Dignity's J1 "Research Scholar" programs. The specificity of the tasks will be determined by Dignity Health. Under the J-1 program, a research scholar may stay in the U.S. for up to five years. However, Dignity has complete discretion of determining the exact length of any J-1 research scholar's stay in the U.S., including the initial period of stay and whether there will be any subsequent extension. The J1 scholar will engage in laboratory research under the direction and guidance of a faculty member, developing skills necessary for success as an independent investigator.
Responsibilities Include:

* Beneficially contributes to mentor-directed research
* Demonstrates capabilities to produce quality original research. Develops well-defined objectives.
* Is able to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
* Conduct research to develop methodologies for medical application, analyzing data and presenting findings to the scientific audience and general public.
* Brings added value to the collective skill set in the mentor's group
* The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
* Learns to be astute and self-critical in project design, data analysis, and results interpretation.
* Is able to communicate information and ideas in speaking and written format so others will understand
* Meets productivity standards. To be evaluated annually
* Is efficient and timely in meeting research goals and producing material for publication and/or grant applications.
* Attends and actively participates as a discussant at seminar series presentations and at regional/national scientific/clinical meetings, and presents work results and journal club articles in the mentor's research setting.

Requirements:
Doctor Of Medicine, MD degree or equivalent in a relevant field of endeavor upon hire
Doctor Of Osteopathy upon hire Required
Beyond minimum requirements, experience writing research reports concerning own work and familiarity with a biomedical discipline preferred
