Overview:
$75,000- $85,000
The Representative Payee Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial management of clients who are unable to manage their own benefits. This role ensures that all client funds are handled ethically, in compliance with Social Security Administration (SSA) regulations, and used solely for the benefit of the individuals served.
This role is hybrid requiring at least 3 days in-office per week. Schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30-5pm.
Responsibilities:
Representative Payee Oversight
* Manage financial accounts for individuals supported receiving Social Security or other government benefits.
* Ensure all funds are used appropriately and in accordance with SSA regulations.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
* Process SSA applications and closely monitor status with follow-up, as needed.
* Assist the team by issuing checks and preparing direct deposits for expenses against representative payee accounts.
* Process emergency check requests as needed.
* Collaborate with service line staff to manage budgets of individuals supported ensuring basic needs (e.g., housing, food, medical care) are prioritized
* Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage annual SSA audit and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies.
Team Leadership & Supervision
* Supervise and support a team of Representative Payee staff.
* Provide training on compliance, financial procedures, and client service.
* Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Other Duties:
* Attend and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings
* Perform all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.
* Treats people served with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy.
* Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts payable or representative payee; 3 years supervisory experience.
* Strong understanding of SSA regulations and fiduciary responsibilities.
* Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Strongly prefer a candidate that has a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations
* Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
* Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
* Familiarity with software including Microsoft applications.
* Ability to communicate effectively and knowledgeably with staff and outside constituencies.
* Must be organized and willing to learn and take initiative.
* Superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team environment
