Overview:
GovCIO is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and coordinate Agile Release Trains (ARTs) within our organization. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in a similar role, a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and a deep understanding of Agile frameworks. The RTE will be responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of value through the ART, facilitating Program Increment (PI) planning, fostering Agile practices and mindset, and coaching leaders and teams.
This position will be fully remote within the United States.
Responsibilities:
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). They ensure the smooth operation of ART events and practices and assist Agile Teams in their success. The RTE facilitates communication with stakeholders, problem-solving, and risk management. The RTE also manages impediments and fosters continuous improvement. They are integral to the ART leadership, collaborating with Product Management, the System Architect, and Business Owners to achieve effective outcomes on the ART.
* Facilitate and Lead ART Processes:
* Lead the Agile Release Train (ART) process and execution.
* Facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning and other Agile events.
* Ensure alignment, transparency, and execution throughout the lifecycle of program increments.
* Maintaining calendars for program increments (PIs), or phases of ART projects
* Monitoring the development and implementation of new programs and features
* Identifying and managing bottlenecks through resource allocation
* Continuous Improvement:
* Assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve.
* Collect metrics and feedback for continuous improvement.
* Foster collaboration and synchronization between teams within the ART.
* Risk and Dependency Management:
* Resolve and escalate impediments.
* Manage risks and dependencies between the ART and other release trains.
* Coordinate with other release train engineers and stakeholders.
* Coaching and Mentoring:
* Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
* Help manage dependencies and foster a continuously refining backlog for the next ART planning event.
* Encouraging teams within the ART to collaborate on certain tasks to meet goals
* Promoting improvement through inspect and adapt (I&A) events after PI completions
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific /technical discipline
* 10 years' experience in a similar role, 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
* Proven experience in leading Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
* Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
* SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification.
* Experience with large-scale solution development and delivery.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public trust/Suitability clearance
