The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Region Vice President, Development, School Engagement within our Western States Region. The location is flexible to Southern California and requires regular travel across the Los Angeles County, Orange County, Inland Empire and San Diego areas. 

The Region Vice President, School Engagement is responsible for leading the operational planning and execution of the American Heart Association's School Engagement initiatives and campaigns for the Western States region with the principal responsibility of securely positioning the region for aggressive growth in total and unrestricted revenue on an increasing and sustainable basis. This includes managing an assigned team of School Engagement staff covering multiple territories, ensuring the understanding and execution of fundraising strategies and tactics to build volunteer leadership engagement, participant income and sponsorship through Kids Heart Challenge as well as collaborative opportunities across revenue streams.

Responsibilities:

* With the Senior Vice President, School Engagement and national staff leads, develops vision, strategies and plans to reach national performance benchmarks, applying identified best practices and innovating approaches to leverage Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge consistent with organizational goals.
* Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting and activating an influential, financially strong volunteer leadership base to champion the success of the American Heart Association through their corporate and/or district engagement and personal giving and influencing the involvement and giving of others.
* Personally forges, manages and develops partnerships with key organizations and philanthropic individuals to maximize the American Heart Association's visibility, impact and financial resources and actively leading and managing direct reports and others to do the same across the communities we serve.
* Provides management expertise, coaching, and monitoring for fundraising campaigns to ensure the aggressive growth of campaigns/programs and focused attention by staff year-round.
* Regularly evaluates and reports on campaign progress utilizing the campaign management tools and reporting systems available. Ensures the integrity and security of donor information and adheres to established policies and procedures.
* Ensures department operates within appropriate operational and financial boundaries and within the financial capacity available. Operates in accordance with the American Heart Association's Fiscal Standard policies and all applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards.
* This is a field-based position with extensive travel within assigned territory, which may involve overnight stays and/or weekends. The noise level in the work environment varies and regularly includes presentations to large groups of youth and teen participants.  

Qualifications:

* 5 years minimum prior relevant experience and at least 5 years of supervisory experience
* Experience recruiting, engaging and activating executive level volunteers
* Demonstrated track record in building effective teams of staff and volunteers
* Demonstrated track record in setting and achieving aggressive goals on a sustained basis.
* Ability to influence others to action through creating a shared vision and sense of ownership and personal accountability.
* Ability to credibly establish and execute a strategic plan across geographically distributed team in a complex and highly dynamic environment, effectively translating strategies to measurable goals and plans.
* Proven ability to think strategically, analyze market data, identify key trends and have participated in the strategy development and execution of initiatives to achieve fundraising and operational goals.
* Ability to do daily local travel across Los Angeles County, Orange County, Inland Empire and San Diego; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
