Region Chief Medical Officer - California

Responsibilities:

As our California Regional Chief Medical Officer (CMO) you will architect and execute clinical strategy, drive transformative clinical care, champion physician engagement, and partner across disciplines to achieve operational efficiency aligned with our mission.

Every day you will be the principal driver for clinical performance, implementing evidence-based medicine, and spearheading patient safety and quality improvement initiatives. This includes oversight of physician credentialing, privileging, and performance to elevate patient outcomes. Crucially, you will meticulously design, implement, and oversee quality improvement efforts, ensuring unwavering compliance with TJC, CMS, and the California Department of Public Health. This involves leading strategic quality initiatives for patient access/satisfaction, provider engagement, clinical outcomes, and comprehensive process transformation. Your work will intrinsically serve as a vital bridge, fostering robust relationships among physicians, administration, and community stakeholders.

To be successful in this role the Region CMO will need to excel in the following areas:

* Clinical Vision & Collaboration: Partner with the Regional CNO to establish and drive a unified vision for safety, quality, patient experience, and utilization management across all clinical groups.
* Strategic Clinical Integration: Integrate physicians and APPs into CommonSpirit Health's core strategy, optimizing market position, and fostering growth in population health services.
* Safety & Quality: Spearhead high-impact safety and quality initiatives, leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure a consistently exceptional patient experience.
* Revolutionize Care Delivery: Develop and execute a compelling clinical vision, aligned with our operating model to transform care delivery, improve patient transfers, and achieve outstanding clinical outcomes.
* Expert Healthcare Leadership: Demonstrate deep expertise in healthcare management, strategic planning, process improvement, budget, and personnel administration.
* Outcome-Driven Strategic Thinker: Possess a nuanced understanding of the link between clinical outcomes, cost, safety, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance to drive impactful recommendations.
* Clinical Excellence: Serve as a nexus, integrating medical staff, management, and employees to achieve unparalleled clinical excellence throughout the region.

Qualifications:

Required:

* MD or DO degree with Board Certification in a medical or surgical specialty. 
* A record of successful clinical practice augmented by five (5) to seven (7) years of leadership experience in a multi-hospital system, integrated delivery network as CMO.
* Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in a specialty. 
* Minimum of five years (5) of management experience in health care.
* Current, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in at least one US state or territory and prior (or current) Board Certification in a specialty.
* If the physician is clinically active, a current, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine must be in the state where the assigned facility operates, and the Board Certification must be current.

Preferred:

* Employed physician group experience.
* Post graduate management degree (MBA, MHA, or similar).
