Overview:
This position is physically located in Balad, Iraq
Under supervision of the Heavy Equip Mech (Recovery Vehicle Operator) Lead, the Recovery Operator operates both conventional and flatbed tow vehicles, including driving, towing, and backing trailers, using safety skills. Performs preventive equipment maintenance. Keeps and obtains all required records and documentation. Must be able to work alone, follow directions, and communicate appropriately with customers and fellow workers. Maintains self and equipment by keeping clean, neat, and orderly. Responds to all requests in a timely manner. Performs minor roadside repairs, flat tires, dead batteries, and vehicle malfunctions. Performs recovery of Commercial Lease Vehicle Branch CLVB and TMP assets as directed throughout the AOR. Performs evacuation of equipment to commercial and Government repair facilities, using commercial and military recovery vehicles. Performs on-site repair or recovery IAW technical manuals, commercial manuals, and safety and local policies. May perform duties as a mechanic and/or other duties as needed.

Qualifications:
* Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
* High school diploma or equivalent. Must provide a copy of the diploma
* Host Country Driver's License is required.
* Experience:
* Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Recovery Operator or Tow Truck Driver and one (1) year Vehicle Mechanic experience
* Licenses/Certifications:
* On-Post Heavy License and Heavy Driving License required or able to obtain. CDL or equivalent.
* OCN Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
* High school degree or equivalent
* Four (4) years of Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Recovery Vehicle Operator) experience.
* CDL or equivalent
* Heavy License and Heavy Driving License required or able to obtain.
* Skills:
* Military (Army) recovery operations training highly desired.
* Read, write, and speak English fluently
* Available 24 hours a day.
* Working Conditions:
* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
* Physical Requirements:
* Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
