Overview: Administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintain detailed records of all therapy sessions, noting on the patient's chart such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date while delivering excellence patient care. **Are you a current Radiation Therapy student? Learn more about our student stipend program: UPH Career Launch.** Responsibilities: * Interprets and accurately applies radiation therapy treatments according to the physician's prescription. * Precisely performs verification simulations on treatment machine. * Precisely documents in the patient's electronic chart. * Retains and practices prescribed procedures taught at in-services. * Maintains knowledge of patient's diagnosis and treatment plan. * Accurately and consistently performs the duties/tasks as assigned in the job description and competency check lists. * Supports and works effectively with the multi-disciplinary team. * Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considers physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served. * Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment demonstrating the practices of infection control principals. * Identifies problems when they occur and reports them to appropriate personnel. * Is self-motivated and self-directed in seeking assistance. * Reviews patients' charts weekly. * Consistently and accurately records charges for billing purposes. * Accurately answers patient questions, or refers them to appropriate personnel. * Accurately performs cone-beam scan and kilovoltage films. * Performs the proper linear accelerator and simulator warm-up procedure and QA testing. * Proper use of VisionRT. * Perform SRS and SBRT treatments. * Performs basic dosimetry, CT simulation, assists with PET\CT simulations. * Assists with volume studies and prostate implants, mammosite and HDR's. * Accurate use of respiratory gating. * Orientates students to radiation therapy. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program. Abides by and assures compliance with all UnityPoint Health and departmental policies. Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Current Iowa Permit to Practice. ARRT registered in Radiation Therapy. Must maintain BLS certification. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Microsoft Excel. Problem solving and communication. Teamwork. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and web browser. Professionalism and relationship management. Ability to handle multiple interruptions and changing priorities.
