Overview: UnityPoint Health- Fort Dodge, IA FTE: .8 FTE (32 hours per week) Shifts: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm $10,000 SIGN-ON BONUS The radiation therapist is part of a multidisciplinary cancer team. Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist the therapist delivers the radiation plans by the use of a linear accelerator. Radiation therapist also participates in daily quality assurance checks, patient chart reviews, and patient assessment. Responsibilities: * Interpret and implement treatment plans as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist * Monitor patient response to therapy and evaluate progress toward desired outcomes * Educate patients on procedures, side effects, skin care, and nutrition * Observe and assess patients for physical and emotional changes during treatment * Perform simulation procedures and prepare immobilization devices * Safely operate radiation therapy equipment, ensuring accurate patient positioning and monitoring * Identify and report equipment issues; perform quality assurance and follow safety protocols * Document all simulations, treatments, and patient interactions accurately * Withhold treatment when necessary and coordinate with care team for appropriate intervention Qualifications: Education: Graduate of accredited school of Radiation Therapy. Experience: Minimum of 1 years' experience as a staff therapist. Current knowledge of appropriate clinical practice, radiation protection and quality assurance, patient management and care, charges, basic dosimetry and equipment. License(s)/Certification(s): Registered in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the State of Iowa.
