Dignity Health Advanced Imaging, a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation, provides cutting-edge diagnostic imaging services at 23 locations across Redding, Santa Cruz, Sacramento, Woodland. Our team of 160 staff members work with our specialty trained and board certified radiologists to provide high quality care to our patients. The locations perform more than 175,000 exams annually with the goal of providing top quality imaging, compassionate care, and timely service with a smile.

Responsibilities:
As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for accurately delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring clinical precision and patient comfort.
Every day you will meticulously position patients, operate sophisticated radiation equipment, perform daily quality assurance checks, and carefully monitor patients throughout treatment, providing support and clear communication.
To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and compassionate patient care, crucial for safe and effective cancer treatment.
* Radiation therapist assists with patient procedures involving patient simulation.
* Greets patients, verifies patient identification, electronic chart for proper radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions. Provide patients, family and/or care givers information related to the treatment process; engages in discussion and answers questions regarding process, equipment used and explain the daily visit routine to ensure understanding of how their care will be delivered during the course of radiation therapy.
* Prepares patient for treatment by assisting in dressing properly and directing/transporting patient to treatment room. Positions patient and equipment in accordance with treatment plan. Produces digital or film portal images and kV cone beam (CT-like) images when appropriate to ensure accurate patient position and treatment.
* Programs equipment to deliver treatment as prescribed by physician. Works with dosimetrist and/or physicist as well as administration to assure correct electronic documentation of treatment.
* Monitors patient throughout treatment process by checking video monitors and intercom. Informs physician any time patient experiences distress or side effects related to treatment process.
* Records each patient's treatment by noting amount of ionizing radiation delivered, location of treatment site, types of blocks and beam modifiers used, patient immobilizers and other appropriate notations on patient chart.
May be required to occasionally work at other locations within the Greater Sacramento Area as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of accredited school of radiation therapy.
- Registered in Radiation Therapy by the ARRT and licensed as a Radiation Therapist by the California Department of Public Health. Must obtain and show proof of License as a Radiation Therapist by the California Department of Public Health
Radiologic Health Branch prior to start date if offer is extended
- BLS certification through American Heart Association.
- Current knowledge of appropriate clinical practices radiation protection and quality assurance patient management and care charges basic dosimetry and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years recent radiation therapy experience preferred.
- Experience using ARIA or IMPAC Varian and CT simulation equipment preferred.
- HDR brachytherapy experience preferred.
