Overview: ***$25,000 SIGN ON BONUS*** ***Eligible for Relocation Assistance*** ***Eligible for Stipend Payments up to $20,000 while in residency*** ***Will consider possible remote work*** Responsible for performing all medical physics tasks necessary for the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic ionizing radiation in collaboration with the radiation oncologists and staff. Responsible for assisting with maintaining state and federal regulatory requirements specific to the practice of radiation therapy. This associate monitors, clinical quality indicators and collaborates with physicians to ensure appropriate treatment guidelines are utilized and/or developed and monitored. Actively participates and supports the mission, vision, and value of the organization. Responsibilities: * Assures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines in the acquisition, storage, and application of radioactivity used in therapeutic applications. * Assures compliance with regulatory agencies such as IEMA, DNV, ACR, NRC, by adhering to the respective guidelines of each agency. * Develops, implements, and reviews the policies and procedures that assure proper functioning of all therapeutic equipment including accelerators, and brachytherapy equipment, ensuring smooth and safe operations. * Assures that the daily output and quality assessment checks of radiation producing equipment are performed and that equipment is in proper working order. * Maintains proper output checks on accelerators, simulation, and other radiation therapy associated equipment. * Performs clinical QA of equipment specifications, acceptance testing, commissioning and calibrations on all new and repaired clinical equipment, and the lead shielding requirements of rooms. * Oversees technical aspects of dosimetrist's and therapist's activities. * Participates in IOeRT treatments and assures machine performance thru QA procedures prior to performing treatments. * Assists dosimetry in treatment planning for External Beam, Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Brachytherapy. * Prepares coordinates and effectively collaborates with the radiation oncologists and technical staff on optimal treatment plans. * Performs treatment planning for High Dose Rate Treatments and Monitors patient during treatment. * Evaluates and implements necessary changes and updates in treatment planning computer, radiation calculation and measurement and record and verification software. Qualifications: Education: * Master of Science in Medical Physics, Physics, or related field required. Doctor's degree in Medical Physics or Physics related discipline preferred. Experience: * 3-5 years experience in a clinical setting preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): * Board Certified Radiation Therapy Physicist by the American Board of Medical Physicists. * Board Certified Radiation Therapy Physicist by the American Board of Radiology. * Eligible to be an Authorized Medical Physicist by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. * Certification by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent in therapeutic Medical Physics. This is required within 3 years of hire.
