Responsibilities:

Pay Range: $34.71/hr. to 49.96/hr.

The Radiologic Tech Student Coordinator works under the direction of the radiologists and the supervisor while performing a variety of radiological procedures as well as functions relative to the scope of diagnostic imaging services. In addition, works under the guidelines established by the PCC Radiography Program for the clinical instruction and supervision of PCC students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performed majority of the time:

          Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the procedure rooms and surrounding areas.

          Informs supervisor or designated person as supplies are needed.

          Provides clinical instruction and arranges for direct and indirect supervision of students.

          Determine clinical assignments and shift schedules for students.

          Attend and participate in Radiography Advisory Clinical Instructors in Charge monthly meetings.

          Performs all general radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.

          Perform all general radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures in surgical services and other hospital departments as assigned.

          Conduct clinical affiliate orientation for new students.

          Maintain documents at clinic site as required by Radiography program.

          Plan and conduct separate film critique sessions for each class of students.

          Evaluate student performance and progression in clinic.

          Arrange in-service clinical instruction for students requested by academic instructors for specific courses.

          Submit a schedule of activities and summarize results at each term end.

          Participate in orientation and education of new technologists.

          Identifies and implements Quality Assurance projects to support our mission statement.

          Advise Radiography Program applicants when observing at the clinical site.

          Participate in Radiography Program student selection process.

          Informs and educates patients about radiographic procedures.

          Meet with and update students about clinical policies, individual student performance and progression in clinic.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

          Performs QC and QA as indicated

Decision making and budget responsibilities:

          Impact limited to the employee and the students in the program.

          No budget responsibility.

Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

Required

          N/A

Preferred

          Graduated from an accredited program in medical radiography or radiologic sciences strongly preferred. 

          Associate or Bachelor degree.

Experience:

Required

          Minimum two (2) years professional experience as a Radiographer.

Preferred 

          Previous experience as a mentor or preceptor

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required

          Oregon State Board of Radiologic Technology Licensure.

          Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

          Follows procedures set by the film library for management of patient files.

          Maintain Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider Certificate.

          Follows procedure and technique manuals to meet standards set forth by the radiologists.

          Understand automatic film processing.

          Follows proper procedure for blood and body fluid precautions.

          Practices sterile techniques.

          Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information.

          Recognizes film quality standards set by radiologists.

          Demonstrates proper radiation safety and protection.

          Prioritizes patient load in an efficient manner.

          Assume full responsibility for maintaining clinical records as required by JCERT.

          Functions as a cooperative, flexible team member in a positive manner.

          Utilizes R.I.S. to complete Diagnostic Imaging functions.

          Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served (neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) based on principles of growth and development and life stages.

Preferred
