We're looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our St. Luke's Children's Cancer Institute (SLCCI) Pediatric Clinical Oncology team in Boise! St. Luke's Children's Hospital and St. Luke's Cancer Institute are partners in Idaho's only pediatric cancer program and only accredited hemophilia center!

Our St. Luke's Cancer Institute (SLCI) clinics are dynamic, full-service outpatient hematology/oncology treatment centers offering chemo/bio/and radiation therapies. Patients and their families have trusted St. Luke's Cancer Institute for more than 50 years for advanced, compassionate care for cancer blood disorders. Today we are a network of five cancer centers dedicated to state-of-the-art treatment close to home; patient-centered care and support; cutting-edge research; and community prevention, education, and early detection initiatives. St. Luke's holds a Commission on Cancer (CoC) cancer program accreditation - this is a quality program of the American College of Surgeons which demonstrates a cancer program's commitment to providing high-quality, multidisciplinary, patient-centered cancer care. 

What you can expect from this role

* A dual-role position, splitting time between Chemo Infusion and Triage
* Full-time: 0.9 FTE = 72 hours per pay period (*potential for position to be broken into two part-time positions - let's chat)
* Schedule: 800-1630 (ex. week one: 5 days x 8-hour shifts & week two: 4 days x 8-hour shifts)
* No nights, weekends, or St. Luke's observed holidays
* Chemo Infusion: provide hands on nursing care for Idaho's Pediatric Oncology population by administering high-risk medications such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy in the chemotherapy infusion center
* Infusions include chemotherapy/biotherapy, blood products, electrolytes, fluids, etc.
* Our Boise SLCCI chemotherapy infusion center (CIC) location has 13 chemo chairs/beds

* Triage: utilize strong critical thinking and assessment skills to triage calls and evaluate pediatric patients undergoing treatment
* Promote a positive patient experience with compassion and kindness while integrating technical skills, scientific knowledge, and a caring attitude both in the clinic and through the triage process to aid those living with cancer and their families

Minimum qualifications for this role

* Required Education: Nursing Degree
* Required Experience: One (1) + years' RN experience (prefer 1 year pediatric RN experience)
* Required Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure from the State of Practice AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross
* Highly Preferred: Two (2) + years of pediatric oncology RN experience, APHON chemotherapy/biotherapy provider course, and/or CPHON certification

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.

* Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. 

* Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments. 

* Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework. 

* Performs therapeutic nursing interventions. 

* Manages care of patients. 

* Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities. 

* Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery. 

* Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model. 

* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Education: Bachelor's of Nursing Degree
* RN's with less than 1 year of RN experience at the time of hire into the RN position must have graduated from an accredited nursing program (ACEN
* Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing, CCNE -Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education)
* Experience: 0 years' experience
* Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure from the State of Practice AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
